Wednesday through Sunday brings a 50 Years of the Ford Mustang Celebration at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord. This will include track events, racing and an attempt to break the Guinness world record for most Mustangs in a caravan, by cruising from the speedway to downtown Kannapolis.
On Thursday, there’s a community discussion of “Fahrenheit 451″ at North County Regional Library, as part of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s One Book, One Week, One Community celebration. There’s a lecture at Davidson College where visiting writers Tony D’Souza and Steve Weinberg will be speaking. Also, Summit Coffee will have its monthly Songwriters Showcase featuring Rob Lytle, Ang Medlin, Nicole Monroe and host Rob McHale.
Friday, there’s the Cornelius Library Spanish Conversation Club, a blood drive at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and music at Summit Coffee featuring Kellin Watson.
The Davidson Farmer’s Market is on Saturday, along with the Lake Norman Rotary Run in Huntersville that offers 5K and 10K routes. Also Saturday, furniture and other items will be acutioned at the Chartwell estate in Davidson, and Davidson Film Club screens the French film “Welcome.”
Two egg hunts are on our calendar for Saturday: the annual community egg hunt is planned at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville, while the Lazy 5 Ranch’s Easter Eggstravaganza runs all day at the site east of Mooresville.
Meanwhile, Sunday is Easter, and many of us will be looking for a good Easter brunch or dinner. David Boraks offers some suggestions in our latest Dining News column, in Food & Dining, “Mouthwatering choices for your 2014 Easter brunch.”
