The Community Arts Project, in the Chair Factory Shops on North Main Street, Cornelius, is now accepting registration for a series of new 1-day workshops including art clay, found-object jewelry making and how to make a mosaic picture frame. Also open are summer camp and spring class registrations.

Art Clay Silver and Photopolymer Plates
Participants will make a beautiful, fine-silver pendant using stamps they make themselves using photopolymer plates. You will create a stamp from a black and white image and use it to press the image into silver clay. All skill levels welcome. Good eyesight or magnification is required! Students should bring a lunch or a snack. Drinks will be provided. All supplies included. Instructor: Rita Camacho. Ages 17 to Adult – $95, Saturday, March 1, 10:00am – 3:00pm

Found Object Jewelry
In this workshop, students will create their own personalized jewelry using beads, baubles, buttons and found objects. We will use both traditional and nontraditional treasures, castoffs and items you have collected over the years to create your own wearable art piece. All you need is your imagination and the box of broken necklaces, beads, buttons or anything you can drill a hole in and we’ll supply the wire and chains and clasps with examples to get you started. This is a great class to take with your daughter, friend or come and make new friends! Instructor: Renee Calder

Mosaic Picture Frame
Create a unique frame for your favorite photo as we repurpose old china plates to create a unique one-of-a kind frame. You will learn how to smash, snip and layout a pattern on the frame and with a bit of grout you will walk away with a beautiful piece. Students should bring their own china plates for inspiration or there will be some options to select from the instructors collection of cracked crockery! Frame form, glue, tile cutters and grout will be supplied. Students should bring a lunch or snack. Drinks will be provided. Instructor: Renee Calder. Ages 13 to Adult – $60
