‘Fahrenheit 451′ play, meetings, open mic at Kadi

February is here, and with it a plethora of events across the Lake Norman Region. Davidson College invites the public to a lecture on ethics and a performance of “Fahrenheit 451″ by the Aquila Theatre Company, the Davidson Green School is holding another info session, and both the Cornelius and Davidson Town Boards will meet. Read on for more highlights and events from This Week’s calendar.
COMING UP THIS WEEK
Monday at the Davidson College Presbyterian House, the Red Cross is holding a blood drive [3] from 2pm-7pm. They are in need of donors from 4:30-6:30pm and welcome walk-in appointments. The Davidson Green School will present an info sessio [4]n at 5:30pm at the Green School Campus on 511 S. Main Street. Be sure to register online at the school’s website before attending. At 6:30pm in Huntersville, the Pine Lake PTO and the Huntersville Police Department will give a safety talk [5] on home and personal protection at the Pine Lake campus.
Also Monday evening, the Cornelius Town Board [6] will hold a pre-meeting at 6pm to discuss business ahead of the full meeting from 7pm-9pm in Cornelius Town Hall. Davidson College welcomes the public to hear Professor Martin L. Cook, professor of Professional Military Ethics at the US Naval War College, discuss “Ethics and the Changing Nature of War” [7] at 7:30pm in Hance Auditorium.
This Tuesday, the Town of Davidson Board of Commissioners [8] work session and pre-meeting will be held at 4:30pm in Town Hall. They were rescheduled form last week due to inclement weather. The Smith Artist Series at Davidson College continues this week as well, with a performance of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 by Aquila Theatre Company [9] at 8pm in the Duke Family Performance Hall.
Food truck Wednesday [10] returns this week after a weather-induced hiatus, and will once again be serving up hot and creative meals by the Oak Street Mill from 11am – 2pm. Also on Wednesday, the North Mecklenburg Woman’s Club will meet [11] at 10:30am at the NorthStone Club in Hunterville and will feature a representative from Purple Heart Homes.
Looking ahead to Thursday, the Lake Norman Kiwanis Club will meet [12] at 7:30am at the Acropolis Restaurant in Cornelius. All are welcome, and the club is actively seeking new members. Bella Love puts on another show Thursday evening with their bi-monthly Open Mic Night at Kadi Fit [13] starting at 9pm. On Friday night, Kadi Fit will host The Carolina Get Down breakdance festival [2].
