This Week, both the Davidson Planning Board and Board of Adjustment will meet Monday night, and the Huntersville Police Department hosts community members for in a meet and greet with its officers on Wednesday, and food trucks return to the Oak Street Mill to deliver creative, inspired lunches. COMING UP THIS WEEK
On Monday, Lake Norman Regional Center’s Diabetes Support Group will meet from noon to 1pm at the Charles Mack Citizens Center in Mooresville. The program is for individuals and their families living with Type 2 diabetes, though all are welcome. The Davidson Planning Board will meet at 6:15pm in the Davidson Town Hall Board Room following the Board of Adjustment meeting at 6pm. The Board of Adjustment is meeting to approve the minutes from the previous meeting when the Davidson Green School was discussed. Monday night, Teens Helping Teens, a non-judgmental and confidential meeting for teens to discuss difficult topics, will meet at 7pm in the Counseling Center at DUMC.
DavidsonLearns returns this Tuesday at 10am with an Intro to Poetry class at 10am in Temple Kol Tikva in Davidson. Tuesday evening, the Huntersville Police Department invites community members to meet the officers and enjoy a cup of coffee during Coffee with a Cop at 6pm at Dunkin Donuts on Wilmington Street. St. Alban’s Episcopal Church will host a Mental Health Forum from 7pm – 8:30pm in the church nave to discuss a range of mental disorders and how to support the mentally ill.
Wednesday means Lunch in the Lot returns to the Oak Street Mill, from 11am-2pm, featuring tasty and creative lunches from a local food truck. DavidsonLearns continues its class on Traditional and Independent Publishing in the romance genre from 6:30pm – 8pm at Temple Kol Tikva, and North Carolina Community Sailing and Rowing will lead an Introduction to Sailboat Racing Tactics and Strategy seminar from 6:30pm – 8pm. At 7:30pm, Davidson College invites the public to a literary reading and book signing by Dorothy Allison, former professor of creative writing at Davidson and author of “Bastard Out of Carolina,” a National Book Award finalist and “Cavedweller,” a New York Times Book of the Year. The reading and signing will take place in the Alvarez Student Union. Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse hosts live music during dinner, featuring Nick Shaw from 7:30pm–9:30pm.
