Happy Holidays from the staff at CorneliusNews.net and DavidsonNews.net! Travel safely as you visit the numerous events taking place across the region this week. Monday, as well as this weekend, the Community Arts Project is hosting a Holiday Drop-in Art [2] session for children ages 4 and older. Kids can be dropped off and parents can pay by the hour. Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius is hosting a service of hope and healing [3] at 3pm as well as Christmas “Eve Eve” services. COMING UP THIS WEEK
Also Monday at Mt. Zion, the church will offer two Christmas Eve, Eve services [4] at 5pm – a nativity and family oriented service and 7pm – a traditional candlelight service.
Thursday evening, Summit Coffee hosts live music with Billy Jones from 8pm – 11pm. Friday, live music returns to Summit; artist TBA.
On Friday, The Rusty Rudder hosts “Hot Sauce” for a late evening of music starting at 10:30pm and lasting until 1:30 the next morning. Summit Coffee hosts live music once again with Rick Spreitzer and The Antique Babies at 8pm.
This Saturday, the Davidson Farmers Market [5] is open from 9am – noon during its winter hours featuring winter produce like root vegetables, hearty greens, fresh baked breads, cheeses, and numerous other local offerings. Saturday night, the Chuckleheads Improv Comedy group returns to the Warehouse PAC to offer two shows: a family-friendly show at 6pm and a regular show at 8pm. The Wine Cellar hosts jazz guitarist Brad Bailey for an evening of wine and jazz starting at 8pm. The Rusty Rudder hosts Gump Fiction at 10:30pm for a late night show that lasts until 1:30am.
HOLIDAY TRANSPORTATION AND OFFICE CLOSINGS
The Town of Davidson and Town of Cornelius offices will close Tuesday through Thursday, and reopen on Friday. They will close again on January 1. Garbage/recycling schedules are affected in Davidson: Wednesday pickups will be moved to Thursday, and Thursday pickups will be moved to Friday. The 24 – 25, CATS and LYNX Blue Line will operate buses and trains on the Sunday Schedule. The GoldRush and Express Buses will not run on Wednesday.
