After taking the summer off, Green Drinks Lake Norman is back with its first meet-up of a new season this Thursday afternoon, Aug. 29, featuring Davidson Farmer’s Market manager Courtney Spear, talking about local food, farmer’s markets, organics, and agribusiness.
The networking reception meets from 5:30 to 7pm at Campania Cafe & Trattoria, 416 S. Main St., in South Main Square, Davidson.
Green Drinks Lake Norman meets monthly, bringing interesting speakers and topics, introducing new and growing companies, and building a network to include more professionals in the green, energy, and sustainability sectors.
Courtney Spear is manager of the Davidson Farmer’s Market, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, delivering a year-round producer-only market to the community. With close to 40 vendors and 24,000 visitors annually, the market provides a public meeting place for people to gather and enjoy locally grown foods, education, special events, chef demonstrations, and music.
Spear’s primary role is to create a vibrant and welcoming food hub through enhanced vendor relations, community outreach and customer commerce. Spear joined the Market in summer 2011. Before that, she worked as a non-profit association manager for IMI Association Executives. She graduated from UNC-Charlotte receiving a bachelor of arts in sociology. She lives in Davidson with husband Matt Spear (Davidson College ’94) and three sons (Nick 15, Jack 13 and Beck 5).
