Chasing Pedestrians makes a scene at Carrburritos

This weekend saw a big treat for Davidson music fans as home-grown Lake Norman band Chasing Pedestrians performed for a crowd of about 100 at Carrburritos Taqueria in Davidson Saturday night.
The five-piece band included founding members lead singer and pianist Michaela Amato, guitarist Steven Gilmore and drummer Chris Grunert. They played a variety of covers as well as originals in a blend that kept the large crowd entertained for the duration of the playlist.
The band, all of Cornelius origin, are all studying at different colleges, but with the summer bringing them back together, have been performing around the NC area and have been gaining notoriety as of late.
It really was a coup for Davidson and Carrburritos to host the band, which has played recently at well-established Charlotte venues such as the Filmore, the NC Music Factory and the Evening Muse, not to mention in Asheville, Raleigh and Chapel Hill. The show was part of a new summer music series at Carrburritos, which is itself a new restaurant on South Main Street. Ten percent of the proceeds from each concert goes to a youth music program at Ada Jenkins Center, a regional community services center in Davidson.
Saturday night’s show included popular cover songs from The White Stripes, Lenny Kravitz, Simon and Garfunkel amongst others, also comprised of self-written songs off their earlier self-titled album and their current September 2011 album “Suddenly, We’re Older.”
The high-energy performance was full of the band’s unique musical sound, excellent guitar solos and commanding vocals, in what has come to have been expected by Chasing Pedestrians.
After starting at 10pm, Pedestrians had their fans enjoying the music late into the night, and a selection of the crowd dancing away in the small venue.
The performance completed a long day for the group, as they were performing on Charlotte TV station WBTV at 7am, as the station celebrated the local music scene. Amato and Gilmore performed their tune “Chasing Pillow.”
Thursday evening sees Chasing Pedestrians performing one more time in Davidson, this time at the Lake Norman Cottage, 200-A North Harbor Place, off I-77 Exit 30.
