Summer library programs begin, ‘boat-in’ movie

The Davidson and Cornelius Libraries begin their summer educational initiatives this week starting with “A Walk in the Woods,” [2] an educational performance and interactive program, at the Cornelius Library. Tomorrow, the Davidson Library hosts Dig Into Reading! [3] for elementary school-aged children at 10:30am and Paws to Read [4], a reading skills initiative with therapy dogs, at 11am. Both of these events will occur every week this summer. Also on Tuesday, Char-Grill Davidson will be hosting the 3rd Annual “12 Hours of Burgers for 24 Hours of Booty. [5]” 10% of all sales will be donated to Team Camden for 24 Hours of Booty in support of cancer research.
This Wednesday, Davidson College Presbyterian Church and Davidson United Methodist Church (DUMC) will host the “Davidson Career Transition Program [6]” at DUMC at 10am in the Education Building.
On Thursday, Lake Norman Regional Medical Center will be offering the American Heart Association’s Healthcare Provider CPR course [7] for healthcare providers at Lake Norman Regional. A women’s issues therapy group [8] will meet this Thursday at the Counseling Center at Davidson United Methodist Church from 6:30-8:00pm, and will continue to meet once a month. Please register in advance.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the Davidson Library will host Preschool Storytime [9] at the library at 10:15am on Friday. On Saturday, the Cornelius Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a “Boat-in” Movie [10] as a part of their outdoor cinema series at Ramsey Park.
