USA Dance Lake Norman Chapter No. 6119 will host its first formal, a Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, this Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Havana Ballroom in Kenton Place.
The chapter has been around for about a year, offering an outlet for social dancers and supporting local ballroom and Latin dance competitors as well, according to Sheila Lester, the group’s vice president.
The dance is scheduled 7-11pm at the Havana Ballroom in the former Palace Theater, 8325 Copley Dr., Kenton Place, Cornelius.
Dress is formal – cocktail dresses or long gowns for women, suits or tuxes from men, and masks optional, according to the invitation.
Tickets are $40, which includes a drink, three-course buffet dinner, and dancing. Reservations requested. Info: usadance6119.org
The chapter hosts dances with ballroom, latin or social dance lessons followed by two hours of open dancing, with music provided by DJs. For questions, contact the group at LKNDance@hotmail.com.
