Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails, Cornelius
As we near the end of another successful Restaurant Week, I would be remiss not to highlight one of my favorite local participating venues: Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails. Indeed, cozy is the perfect way to describe this place when freezing temperatures outside make a warm fire inside warm and, well, cozy.
A big, open fireplace in the rich, mahogany dark wood bar makes you feel like you’ve just ditched your skis after an exhilarating run in favor of cocktails and dinner with friends while you recap the day on the slopes with tall tales. OK, maybe you’re not struck by the same lodge vibe atmosphere the bar invokes. In which case, I should focus on the food and stop conjuring up images in my head.
When it comes to food, I can’t think of a better time to try Alton’s than now during Restaurant Week. And this is your last weekend to do it.
Queen’s Feast, Charlotte’s very own version of it, comes to an end Sunday, Jan. 27. Take advantage of special pricing with a four course meal for $30 per person. Menu options are as delicious as they are varied. You simply cannot go wrong with any of them. What a tough way to spend an evening, choosing between Braised Colorado Lamb Shank and Cast Iron Seared Filet Mignon…decisions, decisions.
Reviewing Alton’s offerings now will help you narrow it down when you go. And I hope you go. And report back to me after you sit by the fire and tell me if it feels like a ski lodge to you. http://www.altonskitchen.com/#!restaurant-week
