A variety of fundraising events are on tap this weekend and next Davidson and Cornelius, including a Parent’s Night Out and Missions Mall at Davidson United Methodist Church, a Davidson Local concert at Summit Coffee in Davidson Saturday to benefit Davidson Housing Coalition, and a Serenity House Night next week at Tender’s in Cornelius. Meanwhile, North Mecklenburg Woman’s Club raised $8,000 for Ada Jenkins Center at its annual Red, White and Green auction Dec. 3.
WOMAN’S CLUB AIDS ADA JENKINS CENTER
Kathleen McMahan, VP Fundraising, and Lisa Vadnais, President of the North Mecklenburg Woman’s Club presented a check for $8,000 to Georgia Krueger and Janice Hinton representing the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson. The money was raised by the members of the North Mecklenburg Woman’s Club at the Red, White and Green auction held at Northstone Country Club on Dec. 3.
“We can’t thank you all enough for this wonderful contribution and the difference it is going to make in many lives,” Ms. Krueger said.

Parents Night Out, Saturday, Dec. 15, 5-8:30pm, Davidson United Methodist Church, 233 S. Main St., Davidson – The church’s youth, parents and child care workers will host a “Parent’s Night Out” – babysitting in age-appropriate rooms for children ages infant through Grade 5. Activities include outdoor playtime (weather permitting), holiday crafts, and movies. Suggested donation: 1 child ($20); 2 children ($30); 3 or more children ($35). All proceeds support DUMC youth group trips and youth choir trips. An optional chicken nugget dinner is available for $3 per child. Space is limited; pre-register at www.dumcyouth.org.

Methodists Missions Mall, Sunday, Dec. 16, 9am-12:30pm, Davidson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 233 S. Main St., Davidson – Buy gifts to help others, in honor of those on your list at the Davidson United Methodist Church Missions Mall. Gifts range from a cuddle quilt for a newborn to a scarf for your aunt, a goat for a family overseas in honor of your mom or a bag for your sister made by Thai women struggling to survive. Also, lunch for a week for a child at the Brookstone School in honor of your father, or a stove for a family in Guatemala in honor of your grandmother.
Serenity House night at Tenders, Friday, Dec. 21, 5-8pm, Tenders restaurant, 18341 Statesville Road, Cornelius – Tenders will host a fundraiser and family night to benefit the Carolina Comfort Coalition (Serenity House). Serenity House is the area’s first “comfort care” home, serving families around the Lake Norman area who want a home experience for loved ones at the end of their lives.
