The 25th anniversary edition of Christmas in Davidson is scheduled Nov. 29-Dec. 1 along Main and South Main street and the Village Green, with carriage rides, food, music and a South Main Square skating rink. Registration is already open for several events within the three-day festival: a Gingerbread House Contest at Copeland House, the annual Doggie Fashion Show and the Ugly Sweater Contest.
Santa will be back, as always, at the Davidson Public Library, shops will be open offering refreshments and entertainment, and a trolley will shuttle festival goers from Davidson Commons shopping center, off I-77 Exit 30, to Main Street to South Main Square. This year’s festival also will include a 25th anniversary collection of quarters, in glass jars at South Main Square and the Village Green, with proceeds going to the Davidson Lands Conservancy. Horse drawn carriage rides will run from Davidson Town Hall.
Three Christmas in Davidson events require pre-registration:
- The 1st Gingerbread House Contest at the Copeland House (judging takes place Thursday, Nov. 29, Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1. The contest is open to all ages and the entries will be separated into the following categories: Youth (1-10), Teen (11-17), Adult (18+) and Group (Family, Scout, School Class, etc.). A fee of $20 per entry and a separate application form must be submitted for each structure. For more information call Jan Hampton with The Copeland House at 704-576-5985. - The Doggie Fashion Show on Friday, Nov. 29, at 7pm on the Davidson Public Library stage. To enter, send an email to Davidsonpaws@yahoo.com with the following information: Name of dog, Owner, Davidson tag number or other city dog tag number. - The Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7pm on the Davidson Public Library stage. DavidsonNews.net editor David Boraks will be the emcee for this annual bit of fun.
