roducers Anne Lambert and Marla Brown are teaming up this month for another regional premiere, a production of Michele Lowe’s black-hearted comedy “The Smell of the Kill” at Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius. The production runs Sept. 20-Oct. 6, with shows Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and one matinee, on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2:30 p.m.
With a three-woman cast, it’s a small production described as “a tantalizing comedy that had Broadway audiences cheering.”
The Story: Nicky’s husband has been indicted for embezzlement, Molly’s husband is stalking her, and Debra’s husband is leaving her for another woman. When the men mistakenly lock themselves in a basement meat locker the women are faced with a life or death decision – should they leave the men out in the cold or let them thaw out? “The Smell of the Kill” is a wicked comedy that asks the question – if you could really kill your husband, would you?

The cast includes Julie Janorschke Gawle (most recently seen onstage in “The Vibrator Play” at Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte), Joanna Gerdy (most recently seen onstage in “Wanda’s Visit” at Warehouse PAC) and Anne Lambert (most recently seen on stage in CPCC Summer Theatre’s production of “Noises Off”). In offstage roles as the guys are Charlotte stage veteran Phil Robertson and David Boraks (editor of DavidsonNews.net/CorneliusNews.net and weekend news host on WFAE-FM).
The show is jointly directed by the cast; the stage manager is Casey McCann. The lighting and scenic designs are by Ryan Maloney, with production design support from Lisa Altieri.
