[2]The Mark Sterbank Jazz Group is up next in the Music @ St. Alban’s series, performing a concert of hymns and spirituals on Sunday, March 11, 3 p.m., at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson. Meanwhile, coming up next week: The Cornelius Concert Series will present Strictly Dixie on Friday, March 16.

Uniting the elements of inspiration and improvisation, the Mark Sterbank Jazz Group explores familiar hymns and spirituals with swinging enthusiasm.
Led by saxophonist Mark Sterbank, the group includes Fred Wesley on trombone, Charlton Singleton on trumpet, Tommy Gill on piano, Herman Burney Jr. on bass, and Quentin Baxter on drums.
WANT TO GO? – St. Alban’s Episcopal Church is at 301 Caldwell Lane, Davidson. Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for seniors, with children under age 12 admitted free. A reception with the performers will follow the concert. Information-tickets: Call 704-941-0650.
STRICTLY DIXIE IN CORNELIUS
The Cornelius Concert Series at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church will present Strictly Dixie in concert on Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Family Life Center, 19600 Zion St., Cornelius.
Strictly Dixie played its first gig in 2003 at a Mardi Gras celebration and his since played regularly for churches and charities. With nine members, through sticks to Dixieland Jazz, most from the era of the Roaring Twenties.
