Performances by a group of Ugandan dancers and the Davidson Community Players, a fundraising breakfast and auction and the next installment of the Cornelius Concert Series highlight this week’s activities across the area. The group Spirit of Uganda — 22 young Ugandan dancers and drummers — will perform Tuesday night at Davidson College’s Duke Family Performance Hall as part of the college’s Smith Artist Series.

The Davidson Community Players continues its run of “Children of a Lesser God” at the Armour Street Theatre, with shows Thursday through Saturday night and a Sunday afternoon matinee.

The Lake Norman Kiwanis Club, looking to raise funds for the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, will hold a pancake breakfast and silent auction on Saturday morning at Huntersville’s First Baptist Church.

A performance by award-winning pianist Yoon-Sun Song highlights Sunday afternoon’s Cornelius Concert Series show at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius.

In addition, Davidson College’s men’s basketball team begin postseason play this week at the Southern Conference tournament. The Wildcats, who won the SoCon’s South Division title to get a first-round bye in the tournament, will play either Samford or Furman in a quarterfinal game at 6 p.m. Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville.

Meanwhile, Davidson’s women’s basketball team wraps up its SoCon regular-season schedule Monday against Samford in Birmingham, Ala. The Wildcats — currently second in the league standings, a game behind Appalachian State — then move on to the SoCon tournament, which begins Friday in Asheville.

Celebrate Black History exhibit, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Cornelius Arts Center, 19725 Oak St., Unit 1, Cornelius. A multimedia exhibit featuring works by local African-American artists, including Cornelius native James Donaldson, as part of the Cornelius PARC Department’s Black History Month celebration. Exhibit will run through Feb. 29.

Children of a Lesser God, 8 p.m. March 1-3 and 2 p.m. March 4, Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour St., Davidson. The Davidson Community Players will perform “Children of a Lesser God,” the story of the relationship between a deaf student and her former teacher. Shadow interpreters will be used at all performances, and an audience “talk back” will be held after each performance on opening weekend. Gymnastics: Everest Classic, March 3-4, Hough High School gymnasium, 12420 Bailey Road, Cornelius.
