A group exhibit of photography and digital art by local artists is now open at Davidson Town Hall, 216 S. Main St., Davidson. A reception with the artists is planned Friday, Oct. 7, 5-7 p.m. The exhibit may be viewed during Town Hall business hours through Oct. 31 in the Town Hall atrium gallery.
The show includes works by six local artists: Kevin Childress, Jan Black, Lyndsay Kibiloski, Rachel Goldstein, Steve Marsh, and David Boraks.
Rachel Goldstein is a Davidson native and 2009 graduate of Savannah College of Art & Design. Her photos and photo collages have been exhibited throughout the region in the past two years, winning a variety of awards, including Best in Show at the 2010 Art on the Green in Davidson.
Steve Marsh is a Mooresville photographer who shoots many of his photos – including all those in this exhibit with a Canon point-and-shoot camera. He enjoys shooting landscapes and scenery from his travels. He is a Marshville native and graduated from The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Kevin Childress is a Davidson native who picked up photography in 2008 and now has “moved from hobby to obsession.” He runs a part-time photo sales business, Childress Art and Imagery. His landscapes and nature photos.
Lyndsay Kibiloski of Cornelius is a designer who creates moody digital paintings, which she prints on canvas. A Michigan native, Lyndsay attended Central Michigan University, Western Michigan University and the Center for New Media in Kalamazoo. She is the chief operating officer and chief designer at DavidsonNews.net and CorneliusNews.net.
Jan Black of Cornelius is the marketing director of Our Town Cinemas, the local movie theater in Davidson. In her spare time, she enjoys landscape photography. She mixes her colorful images with her own text to create inspirational photos.
David Boraks is a Davidson-based photographer and writer who uses professional cameras, point-and-shoot cameras, and mobile phone cameras to shoot people, events and landscapes. The photos in this show were shot on all three. He is the founder and editor of DavidsonNews.net.
David Boraks also is the new coordinator for the Town Hall atrium gallery and the gallery at South Main Square. He invites artists to inquire about exhibits in the spaces by emailing him at david@boraks.net.
