Story times, 80s concert in the park, 5K, ‘Ragtime’

This weekend’s area calendar offers everything from stories and art to outdoor concerts and movies. Story times are offered on Thursday and Friday at Main Street Books and the Cornelius and Davidson public libraries. On Friday, the exhibit “The Beautiful World of Watercolor” opens with a reception at Davidson Town Hall. There’s the UpGrade Lifestyle 5k and Kids Fun Run in Birkdale and Summer Singles Party & Dance for singles over 45 at the Palace in Cornelius on Saturday. Also on Saturday, you’re invited to eat out on the dog friendly patio of Coral Sushi with your dogs and learn about the Great Dane Friends rescue. The Davidson Community Players’ presentation of “Ragtime” continues this weekend and there will be live music from 80s cover band 80’z Enuff at Bailey Road Park on Saturday.
