Walk to the Green, Touch a Truck, farmer’s market

This weekend is full of theater, live music and fun to ring in the summer. To celebrate the end of the school year, Davidson IB Middle School alumni, friends and family are invited to join students and staff in a walk to the Green on Thursday. Touch a Truck is on Saturday where children can learn about specialty vehicles and heavy machinery at the McGuire Nuclear Station. The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Symphony in the Park, and the Birdsnest’s No Power Concert are also on Saturday. Finally, the Warehouse Performing Arts Center is finishing up its play festival on Sunday with a performance of “Grave Comedies.”

THURSDAY, JUNE 9

Story Time at Main Street Books, 10 a.m., Main Street Books, 126 S. Main St., Davidson – Story Time, for children 1-5. Stories, songs and lots of fun. Free. Also June 23.

Walk to the Green, 2 p.m., Davidson IB Middle School, 251 South St., Davidson – Alumni, friends, and family of the school are welcome to join the students and staff by the picnic tables behind the school at 1:45 to walk together to the Davidson Town Green in downtown Davidson at 2 p.m. Bring a notecard with a memory, dedication, or poem to leave in the Memory Box. Cookies and lemonade back in the Media Center following the walk. (See June 1, 2011, “As closing nears, Davidson IB plans last walk to the green.”

Parenting Session, 6-8 p.m., Gethsemane Baptist Church, 565 Jetton St., Davidson – Hosted by the Gethsemane Women of Faith ministry for pregnant women or new mothers with children 2 years old or younger. Green homebuilding show – 6-8 p.m., Galway Hooker Irish Pub, 17044 Kenton Drive, 2nd floor, Cornelius – Lake Norman Home Builders Association and Central Carolina Green Building Council present a green products expo.
