‘Wild Things’ opens Cornelius movie series June 15

CORNELIUS – The Cornelius Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture Department (PARC) announces its summer 2011 outdoor cinema series. Movie schedules and locations are as follows:
June 15: Where the Wild Things Are, J.V. Washam Elementary field, 9611 Westmoreland Road
June 29: Little Fockers, Torrence Chapel Park, 21309 Torrence Chapel Road
July 4: Chronicles of Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Cornelius Town Hall Lawn, 21445 Catawba Ave.
July 20: The Karate Kid, Ramsey Creek Park,18441 Nantz Road
Aug. 3: Tangled, Smithville Park, 19710 S. Ferry St.
Aug. 17: The Green Hornet, Cornelius Town Hall Lawn, 21445 Catawba Ave.
WANT TO GO?
Movies begin around 8:30 p.m., at dusk, and are free and open to members of the public, who are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Some movies are edited for general content. Movie times and locations are subject to change, particularly in the event of inclement weather. Call the PARC Weather Hotline at 704-896-2460, ext 290, with questions.
SPECIAL MOVIE EVENTS:
On June 15, June 29 and July 4, PARC invites community members to show up early and enjoy pre-movie games and refreshments sponsored by Coca-Cola from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
On July 20, the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation department hosts a “boat in” at Ramsey Creek Park, giving community members the chance to watch the movie from the lake or from the land. Boaters will be able to watch the movie from their boats and receive audio via boat radio or handheld radio.
