Jackson art opening, Gamut dance, theater, music

Opening at Community School of Davidson High School.
An exhibit titled “Excavations,” including 19 paintings spanning the 50-year career of Davidson College art professor Herb Jackson, opens with a reception Thursday night at Davidson’s Belk Visual Arts Center. Elsewhere, Community School of Davidson produces its first high-school play, “Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” on Friday and Saturday, while the art-forgery drama “Masterpiece” continues at Davidson Community Players’ Armour Street Theater. Davidson College’s Gamut dance group hosts another show Friday and Saturday nights. There’s a Davidson Greenways, Trails and Bikeways meeting on Thursday and a Concert on the Green planning meeting on Friday.

Herb Jackson retrospective opens, 7-9 p.m., Belk Visual Arts Center, Davidson College – An artist reception for the exhibition “Herb Jackson: Excavations.” The exhibition celebrates 42 years of teaching and 50 years of painting by Davidson’s Douglas C.
