Tickets are still available for the Community School of Davidson’s screening of the documentary “Race to Nowhere” on Monday, Jan. 17 at 1 and 7 p.m. The event was rescheduled because of the snow and ice storm last week.
The documentary examines the problems with teen achievement culture. A concerned mother turned filmmaker aimed her camera at the culture of hollow achievement and pressure to perform has invaded America’s schools and how it is affecting the students who live in it.
The event will include a 30-minute panel discussion following the film with experts including counselors, psychiatrists, college admission specialists, pediatricians, and educators.
Organizers said an online reservation problem led them to believe the show was sold out. But it turns out tickets are still available for both the 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. showings. The documentary will be shown at the CSD elementary/Middle school location, 565 Griffith St. For reservations, email debbierichardson@roadrunner.com
