CHRISTMAS STORY
Based on the book “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash” by Jean Shepherd, and the subsequent 1983 motion picture, “A Christmas Story” is set in the 1940s Midwest. It chronicles the life of 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas.
Along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself. All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace; Scott Farkas, the school bully; the wet tongue on a cold lamp post experiment; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie’s father winning the famous leg-lamp; and Ralphie’s fantasy scenarios.
This weekend’s performances are Thursday- Saturday, Dec. 2-4, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. Additional performances will be Dec 9-11 and 15-18 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 11-12 and 19 at 2 p.m.
All performances are at the Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour St., Davidson. Tickets are $15 for Seniors & Students and $18 for Adults. The story is recommended for ages 8 and up.
