Christmas in Davidson ornament 2010
The Town of Davidson and downtown merchants are selling the annual Christmas in Davidson ornament, which promotes the annual downtown festival and this year depicts and raises money for the campaign to keep open the Davidson public library branch. Also, the youth of Davidson United Methodist Church are selling box dinners Thursday night during Christmas in Davidson, to support a summer Costa Rica mission trip, and the YMCA is holding its annual Breakfast with Santa. And next week also brings the Red & Black Ball fund-raiser at Davidson College.
BUY AN ORNAMENT, HELP THE LIBRARY
This year’s Christmas in Davidson ornament was created by Hot Glass Works in Vermont, and was crafted from blown glass in a variety of colors. It includes an image of the library and the words “Christmas in Davidson 2010.” All sale proceeds will go to the library fund, which aims to raise at least $175,000 to pay for day-to-day operations of the branch on the Village Green.
“It’s a beautiful ornament that celebrates a great event and funds a great cause,” Interim Downtown Manager and library fund-raiser Kim Fleming said in a press release. “We hope everyone who loves Christmas in Davidson and loves our library will buy one this year.”
Ornaments are $10 each and can be purchased at The Village Store and The Wooden Stone through the end of December.
Christmas in Davidson 2010 will be next Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 2-4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. Opening ceremonies begin on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. with the arrival of Santa Claus on the Village Green. Other event highlights include a Live Nativity complete with animals, strolling carolers and a wide variety of food offerings.
