Summit's music lineup this week includes (from left) Rusty Knox, Hannah Miller and Dennis Currier.
Summit Coffee in downtown Davidson has an interesting weekend of music ahead, beginning Thursday with the next in its series of Songwriter in the Round showcases. Billy Jones and the Pocket are up Friday and jazz guitarist Dennis Currier and his trio are on tap Saturday.

Thursday’s songwriter showcase features Columbia, S.C., singer/songwriter Hannah Miller and Davidson’s own Rusty Knox, along with host Rob McHale.
Ms. Miller’s song “Keep it Simple” was featured on a recent episode of NBC-TV’s prime time show “Mercy.” She has four independently released CDs and won the Lilith Fair talent search in Charlotte. Mr. Knox is a Davidson native, guitarist and songwriter who last year released a CD called “Reason Why.”
On Friday, it’s Summit’s house band, Billy Jones and The Pocket. That combo includes lead singer and guitarist Billy Jones (who also is proprietor of the recently opened Main Street music studio and shop Birdsnest), bassist Mason Bissett, and drummer Brian Burton. The group often expands to include guitarist Russell Dye and percussionist Tim Helfrich (Summit Coffee’s owner and Davidson’s local-music empresario).
And Saturday night brings live jazz with the Dennis Currier Trio. Mr. Currier is a Davidson-based jazz guitarist who in January released his first album, a collection of standards and originals titled “Terzetto.”
Live music is 8-11 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Summit also hosts an open mic night on Wednesday, 8-10 p.m.
