Our weekend calendar in and around Davidson features the NorPac Conference field hockey tournament and basketball games at Davidson College, music, fund-raisers, the final football game of the year for Hough High, and a Sunday afternoon performance in the Music @ St. Alban’s series by New York’s David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble. North Meck High senior Gray Stanback has an opening reception for his graduation project – an exhibit of his drawings on Magnadoodle sketch boards on the theme “Art Meets Autism.”

FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
Davidson hosts the Northern Pacific Conference field hockey tournament Thursday through Saturday at Belk Turf Field. Davidson will be one of the top seeds, after winning its first outright regular season NorPac divisional crown this past weekend. Stanford and California shared the west title. All three teams finished 5-1 in their respective divisions. Games begin Thursday and continue through the championship game Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Details, including schedule, on DavidsonWildcats.com [1].
THE ART OF GRAY STANBACK

From Tuesday through Nov. 30, Summit Coffee’s upstairs walls will be the backdrop for a series of Magnadoodle drawings by Davidson resident Gray Stanback. The Exhibit, “Magnetically Drawn: Art Meets Autism,” is Gray’s North Meck High School graduation project. An opening reception is planned Saturday, 3-5 p.m., at Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St. Free.
THURSDAY, NOV. 4
Lecture: Cognitive Psych and Education, 4 p.m., Davidson College, Chambers Hall, Hance Auditorium – Dr. Elizabeth Marsh, Associate Professor of Psychology at Duke University, lectures on “Cognition in the Classroom: Applications of Cognitive Psychology to Education.” Talk is aimed at a general audience and open to the public. Ice cream benefit night, 6-8 p.m., Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, – The ice cream shop hosts a benefit scooping night with celebrity scooper Georgia Krueger, executive director of Ada Jenkins Center [2] in Davidson.
