Wednesday brings the “Over the Tabletop” showcase and fund-raiser at River Run, for Davidson Housing Coalition’s HAMMERS home repair program. On Thursday through Saturday, Davidson College hosts the 2010 Northern Pacific conference field hockey championship at Belk Turf Field. Hough High’s football team hosts Mallard Creek in the final game of the regular season Friday. And on Sunday afternoon, Music @ St. Alban’s presents New York’s David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble. And can Davidson Wildcats basketball really be back already?

FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

Davidson hosts the Northern Pacific Conference field hockey tournament Thursday through Saturday at Belk Turf Field. Davidson will be one of the top seeds, after winning its first outright regular season NorPac divisional crown this past weekend. Stanford and California shared the west title. All three teams finished 5-1 in their respective divisions. Games begin Thursday and continue through the championship game Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Details, including schedule, on DavidsonWildcats.com.

From Tuesday through Nov. 30, Summit Coffee’s upstairs walls will be the backdrop for a series of Magnadoodle drawings by Davidson resident Gray Stanback. The Exhibit, “Magnetically Drawn: Art Meets Autism,” is Gray’s North Meck High School graduation project. An opening reception is planned Saturday, 3-5 p.m., at Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St. Free.

Davidson United Methodist Blood Drive, 1:30 to 6:30 p.m., Davidson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 233 S. Main St. – Blood drive. Davidson men’s soccer vs. Wake, 7 p.m., Davidson College Alumni Stadium – Davidson men’s soccer vs. Wake Forest. This is the Cats’ final regular season home game.

Lecture: “When It All Broke Loose for the Bible: The 1880s”, 7:30 p.m., Davidson College Alvarez College Union Smith 900 Room – Mark Noll, a scholar of religious and cultural history, gives the second of two 2010 Otts Maloney Lectures, on the topic “When It All Broke Loose for the Bible: The 1880s, Catholics, Jews, Blacks, the Courts, Evolution, Revivalism, Higher Criticism-the Works!.” (See also Monday.) Over the Tabletop showcase/fund-raiser, Noon to 3:30, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., River Run Country Club, Davidson – North Mecklenburg Women’s Club “Over the Tabletop” showcase. More than 25 designers, shops and florists join a designer showcase featuring holiday-themed dining tables and Christmas trees. Daytime viewing is followed by an evening gala with silent and live auctions, appetizers and a cash bar. Proceeds benefit Davidson Housing Coalition’s HAMMERS emergency home repair program.
