Lectures, sports, and plenty of music are on tap this week in and around Davidson. Wednesday brings the “Over the Tabletop” showcase and fund-raiser at River Run, for Davidson Housing Coalition’s HAMMERS home repair program. On Thursday through Saturday, Davidson College hosts the 2010 Northern Pacific conference field hockey championship at Belk Turf Field. Hough High’s football team hosts Mallard Creek in the final game of the regular season Friday. And on Sunday afternoon, Music @ St. Alban’s presents New York’s David Glukh Klezmer Ensemble. And can Davidson Wildcats basketball really be back already?

FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
Davidson hosts the Northern Pacific Conference field hockey tournament Thursday through Saturday at Belk Turf Field. Davidson will be one of the top seeds, after winning its first outright regular season NorPac divisional crown this past weekend. Stanford and California shared the west title. All three teams finished 5-1 in their respective divisions. Games begin Thursday and continue through the championship game Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Details, including schedule, on DavidsonWildcats.com.

From Tuesday through Nov. 30, Summit Coffee’s upstairs walls will be the backdrop for a series of Magnadoodle drawings by Davidson resident Gray Stanback. The Exhibit, “Magnetically Drawn: Art Meets Autism,” is Gray’s North Meck High School graduation project. An opening reception is planned Saturday, 3-5 p.m., at Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St. Free.
