Actors in the Davidson Community Players’ productions of “Noises Off” and “Violet” brought home Metrolina Theatre Association Awards at ceremonies on Sunday. Winners included Matt Merrell (“Noises Off”) and Cassandra Wood (“Violet”), who won outstanding lead awards. The annual awards program was held in the McColl Family Theatre at ImaginOn in Charlotte.
The annual event celebrated excellence in theatre for the 2009-2010 season. Davidson Community Players’ had a variety of nominees in the Regional-North division of the awards. North regional award winners included:
- Matt Merrell, outstanding male lead actor for his portrayal of Gerry Lejeune in “Noises Off.”
- Cassandra Wood, outstanding female lead, as Violet in “Violet.”
- Kevin Roberge, outstanding supporting actor for Frederick Fellowes in “Noises Off.”
- Larry Ligo, outstanding cameo, for his role as Selsdon Mowbray in “Noises Off.”
- The entire cast of “Noises Off” also won an exemplary performance award for outstanding timing and ensemble acting.
