YMCA opens doors for National Gymnastics Day Sat.

The Lake Norman YMCA will host an open house in celebration of National Gymnastics Day Saturday, Sept. 18, from 2 – 4 p.m. The YMCA’s Gymnastics Studio will be alive with activity as families can see demonstrations and experience the program for themselves during the event.
Instructors will be on hand to allow children the opportunity to try new skills. There will be opportunities for experienced gymnastics and those who are interested in just getting started to take a hands-on approach to learning more about the sport. Participants from the studio’s judo program will also be available for demonstrations.
“This is such an exciting time to be a part of this gymnastics program,” Gymnastics Director Erik Walsingham said. “I’m looking forward to sharing what a great program we have at the Lake Norman YMCA with the community.”
This will be the first National Gymnastics Day Erik Walsingham has spent as Lake Norman YMCA’s Gymnastics Director. A new leader to the gymnastics team, he is looking forward to meeting members of the local community.
“The Lake Norman YMCA and the gymnastics program are going to benefit so much from Erik’s experience and talent,” said YMCA Executive Director Erika Arnold. “We can’t wait to celebrate our program and have the opportunity to introduce more people in the local community to the sport.”
