"Charlotte's Web" at Cornelius Outdoor Film Series Saturday.

Our weekend calendar in and around Davidson begins with a Friday evening Concert on the Green, featuring the rock band Pushh. Thursday night, the local band Chasing Pedestrians plays a fund-raising concert at Davidson United Methodist Church. Mooresville’s Movies on Main shows “The Blind Side” Friday outdoors at Bellingham Park. Saturday brings the Davidson Farmers Market, and Cornelius’s outdoor film series screens “Charlotte’s Web.”

The area’s two newest high schools will have dedication ceremonies – charter high school Community School of Davidson on Armour Street Thursday and W.A. Hough High in Cornelius on Saturday. And beginning Thursday, professional anglers will be out on Lake Norman in 2010 Bass Pro Shops Tournament Series, which continues through Saturday.

THURSDAY, AUG. 12

Fishing tournament, all day, Blythe Landing, 15901 NC Highway 73, Cornelius – The Professional Anglers Association will be fishing on Lake Norman as part of the 2010 Bass Pro Shops Tournament Series. Community School of Davidson High School ribbon cutting – 6:30 p.m., Community School of Davidson High School, 404 Armour St. – Ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new charter high school. Benefit concert with Chasing Pedestrians, 7-9pm, Davidson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall – Come join us for a concert featuring local band Chasing Pedestrians. Suggested donation at the door $10. Proceeds go to two local organizations: Davidson-Cornelius Daycare and Ada Jenkins Center. The band plays Rock/Folk/Funk. All ages welcome.

Friday Concert on the Green, 6-9 p.m., Village Green, Main Street and Concord Road – Downtown Davidson Concert on the Green, entertainment will be Pushh, a modern and classic rock band. The five-piece group plays tunes by artists including Rick Springfield, Shinedown, Prince, Gavin DeGraw, Average White Band and Maroon 5. Free. Book of Revelation study, 9 a.m. to noon, Davidson College Presbyterian Church Congregation House, Concord Road – Dr. James “Mickey” Efird, professor emeritus at Duke Divinity School, will lead a study on the Book of Revelation. The study will focus on separating fact from fiction in this most misunderstood book of the Bible. The Book of Revelation is the study for Presbyterian Women for 2010-2011, but all are welcome.
