You’ll have a choice of music, theater, film and more this weekend in and around Davidson. On Friday, Mooresville’s Music on Main outdoor concern series continues with The Stranger, a Billy Joel tribute band. Cornelius-based band Velcrows plays at Summit Coffee, while the Rusty Knox Band is at The Brickhouse Tavern Friday. A trio of stage productions are on tap this weekend: “Noises Off,” “Fast Trip to Omaha” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Our Town Cinemas in Davidson opens one new movie, “Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore.” Also, the last in a series of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools community forums is tonight in Charlotte, giving parents and residents a chance to comment on possible organizational changes and closings that could affect local schools, including Davidson IB Middle School.

Baseball fans can catch some great post-season games at McEver Fields on South Street beginning Friday as the local Davidson-Cornelius all-star team hosts the PONY Bronco division (age 12) East Zone tournament.

PONY BASEBALL TOURNEY

The DC Force Bronco All Star Team will host the PONY baseball East Zone Tournament beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at McEver Fields. The DC Force is comprised of 12 local players aged 12. They will be playing New Bedford, Mass., at 6 p.m. Friday. The second game will be played immediately following the first game against Chambersburg, Pa., and Western Branch, Va. The double elimination tournament continues through Sunday. The winner of the tournament will advance to the Bronco World Series in Monterey, Calif., on Aug. 4.

Theater: Noises Off, Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College campus – The Davidson Community Players will perform the comedy “Noises Off.” Includes mature themes and is recommended for ages 14 and up. Performances will be Thursday to Saturday, July 29-31, at 8 pm, and matinee Sunday, Aug 1, at 2 pm. Theater: Fast Trip to Omaha, Warehouse Performing Arts Center, 9216-A Westmoreland Rd., Cornelius – The Warehouse Performing Arts center presents Fast Trip to Omaha, a comedy about a dysfunctional family, set against the backdrop of the summer of 1969.
