^[2]This weekend is filled with arts, music, and more. Friday brings a Mooresville art crawl, with openings at both the Mooresville Artist Guild’s Depot and Artworks on Main. Summit Coffee will have live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Also on the schedule: kids’ story time at Main Street Books Thursday, a weekend writers’ workshop, Davidson Farmer’s Market Saturday, and new movies at Our Town Cinemas.

AT THE MOVIES

Opening at Our Town Cinemas will be “Despicable Me,” about the evil Gru, who plans to steal the moon until he is challenged by three orphan girls, will have its first showing on Friday. “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” will begin Wednesday the 14th and tells the story of a seemingly average teen in Manhattan who is actually improving his magic skills under the tutelage of a sorcerer in a race to save New York City. “Grownups”, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”, and “Toy Story 3” will also continue. Mooresville Gallery Crawl, 6-8 p.m., downtown Mooresville – Mooresville Artists Guild at the Depot, Main and Center streets, has 2 new shows, “Hot Town Summer in the City” photography show and the “Women Paint Women Live Model” series. The shows will be on display from July 1-31, with an opening reception on July 9. At Artworks on Main, 165 N. Main St., they’ll open a show called “Three Women Artists from Mooresville,” with work by Becky Gleason, Lisa Carver, and Lisa Mitchel.
