Outdoor music and movies; also, meetings, theater

this week logoSummer gets into full swing in and around Davidson this week, with more performances of Davidson Community Players’ “Oklahoma!”, the State Games of North Carolina at area sites, and a free outdoor symphony concert Friday at the Energy Explorium. Davidson and Cornelius town boards hold emergency meetings today (Monday) to vote on rescue packages to save local library branches. And CMS hosts a series of community forums as part of a major review of facilities, magnets schools, busing and other issues.

Mooresville’s summer outdoor music and movie series both continue Friday. The Tim Clark Band from Myrtle Beach plays Friday at 6:30 on the Town Hall Green. Then, Michael Jackson’s film “This Is It” will be screened at 8:30 at Bellingham Park.

Also at the movies: Our Town Cinemas has “Toy Story 3″ on two screens, as well as “Letters to Juliet,” which theater officials says has been one of the top requests among their moviegoers lately. “Knight and Day” and “Grown Ups” both open this weekend. And coming next week, it’s the long-awaited next installment of the “Twilight” series: “Twilight Saga” Eclipse.” (Showtimes at right.)
