There’s a fun weekend ahead in and around Davidson, from Thursday’s opening of Davidson Community Players’ “Oklahoma!” to the first in a new series of Friday night Concerts on the Green, with the R&B/dance band Rough Draft.
The Davidson Farmers Market returns Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, and again this week, the market will include a “Shoes of Hope” shoe collection drive. Bring a pair of new children’s sized shoes. They’ll be distributed through Ada Jenkins Center in July.
Our Town Cinemas opens “Toy Story 3″ on two screens, as well as “Letters to Juliet,” which theater officials says has been one of the top requests among their moviegoers lately. (Showtimes at right.)

Shoe donation drive at the Farmers Market, 8 a.m. to noon, at Davidson Farmers Market, next to Town Hall, Main Street – Shoes of Hope Back to School Program will continue the mission of Samaritan’s Feet to bring a life-changing message of compassion and hope to impoverished youth in North Carolina and around the world by individually washing their feet and giving them a new pair of athletic shoes and socks. Samaritan’s Feet will be partnering with Ada Jenkins Center in July to serve children in our community. But they need to collect they shoes now!
