More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the Lake Norman YMCA’s 2nd annual Live at the Lake on Saturday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The daylong festival – at the YMCA in Cornelius – offers music, fun and games, food and information booths about local businesses and YMCA programs.
The day begins with a 5k run and walk at 9 a.m.
Live music at the event will include Davidson-based singer-songwriter Rusty Knox, The Church of the Good Shepherd band, and eight-year-old music prodigy Wallace Foutch. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Wallace, who once attended the Lake Norman YMCA preschool program.
With the live music, “This year, we are putting the ‘live’ back into Live at the Lake,” Erika Arnold, the Lake Norman YMCA Executive Director, said in a press release.
Live at the Lake also features plenty of lake activities, including a giant water slide and trampoline, boat rides, games, face painting and inflatables.
Vendors will be selling food and local business exhibitors will be on site to share information about their companies.
All sponsorship and vendor proceeds will benefit the Lake Norman YMCA Annual Campaign. In 2010, the branch’s goal is to raise $174,000 in order to provide more children, individuals and families the opportunity to participate in day camp, after-school, preschool, swim lessons and active older adult programs.
The branch’s signature outreach programs include the Starfish Academy, which helps rising 1st and 2nd graders improve their reading and literacy skills each year and the Adaptive Water Ski program, which helps people overcome physical disabilities by learning to ski.
Additional sponsorship and vendor opportunities are still available. For more information, please contact Natia Walker at 704-716-6761 or natia.walker@ymcacharlotte.org.
