Hot ticket: Maroon 5, idol winner Allen at Davidson

Here’s a hot late summer date for the calendar: Tuesday, Aug. 24. That’s when Grammy-winning recording artists Maroon 5 come to Davidson College for a concert that also will include performances by “American Idol” winner Kris Allen and British sensation VV Brown. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, June 4.
The concert will be at 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at the college’s John M. Belk Arena. For ticket information, go to the college website [2].
Maroon 5’s Davidson concert is the smallest venue on their 30-city “Hands All Over” tour, which opens July 30 in Saratoga, N.Y., and closes August 29 in Pittsburgh. The tour supports the band’s third studio album, “Hands All Over,” which will be released on Sept. 21. Produced by rock studio legend Robert John “Mutt” Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard, The Cars), “Hands All Over” is a hybrid of rock, pop, funk and R&B.

The Maroon 5 concert at Davidson is sponsored and organized by Davidson College’s Union Board, the major student programming organization of Davidson College. Made up of 19 students, the Union Board and its 10 committees program events for the Davidson campus every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
