It’s Memorial Day weekend, and music, new movies, and Memorial Day ceremonies await.
On Saturday and Sunday, the North Mecklenburg Community Chorus performs its annual spring concert, “Made in America,” at Davidson College’s Duke Family Performance Hall. And on Sunday afternoon, Ensemble Vermillian gives a concert of chamber music by 17th-century composers at St. Alban’s Church.
There’s a blues concert with award-winnig blues man Blazin’ Blues Bob Saturday at Warehouse PAC in Cornelius. And Summit has a lineup of regulars nightly, including Billy Jones & The Pocket Friday and Rusty Knox Band on Saturday. Read on for more …
MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY
Cornelius Parks & Rec and the American Legion will host a Memorial Day ceremony Saturday morning at Legion Park, off Catawba Avenue, with a decorated Korean War Veteran as the guest speaker. And don’t forget about the Davidson Farmers Market, back for another week downtown next to Town Hall.
AT THE MOVIES
Our Town Cinemas in Davidson opens “Sex & The City 2″ on two screens on Thursday. Meanwhile, “Racing Dreams” will be held over for another week. The film follows three young racers as they compete in the World Karting Association National Pavement Series. One of the featured drivers is Annabeth Barnes of Statesville, who is now racing Legend and stock cars. (See showtimes at right for details.)
