Saturday at the YMCA: free Family Fun Day

Lake Norman YMCA hosts its 2nd annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with music, food, games, inflatable slides and bounce houses, canoe rides, archery, face painting, crafts and more. The event will also offer parents and kids a chance to check out the YMCA’s schedule of summer camps.
Players in the Y’s spring soccer leagues will be playing their final games of the season Saturday and collecting end-of-season awards during the event.
“We started Family Fun Day last year to thank our families for supporting the YMCA, celebrate the end of our soccer season and invite the community to experience what summer at the Y is all about,” said Honora Ruggiero, the branch’s Family Services Director. “We really just want to share the Y experience with everyone who would like to enjoy the day with us. It’s a great way to kickoff summer!”
Family Fun Day is free and open the entire community. Free hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn will be available. Ice cream vendors will also be on site.
Several hundred guests are expected. If the YMCA parking lot fills, guests can also park at Cornelius Elementary. Shuttles will transport guests back and forth during the entire event. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Saturday, May 1.
Experience Summer Camp
Family Fun Day is a great opportunity to learn more about YMCA Summer Camp. Information tables and camp leadership staff will be onsite to answer any questions you make have about camp. Kids who attend will also get the opportunity to experience outdoor camp activities like canoeing and archery.
Anyone who registers for camp on Saturday will receive a free camp gift. Camp T-shirts will be on sale for $5.
