Our Town Cinemas.

Our Town Cinemas off Griffith Street in Sadler Square shopping center, will show a series of art films April 16-22 in cooperation with the Charlotte Film Festival and coinciding with April Is for Arts in Davidson and north Mecklenburg. Three independent films are on the “Taste of the Charlotte Film Festival” menu – along with Our Town Cinemas’ usual film, dinner and bar fare.

Showings of “Warrior Champions,” “Good Night Irene,” and “Trust Us, This is All Made Up” will begin Friday, April 16, the same day as the Gallery Crawl in Davidson and Cornelius. (The crawl runs 6-9:30 p.m. Details in our April 9 “April Is for Arts” ^[2] preview.)

The films will be shown at various times all week, leading up to Art on the Green April 24 & 25 on the Village Green in downtown Davidson.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to partner with Our Town Cinemas,” Rich Kennedy, operations director of The Charlotte Film Festival, said in a press release. “We have these unbelievable films to share and they have great audiences who appreciate all forms of art.” (More about the films below.)

Our Town is a unique four-screen theater with individual, adjustable seats and bistro tables to accommodate drinks and even dinner. The concession stand offers wine by the bottle or glass and draft beer, Brickhouse Tavern pizzas, White Castle Burgers, Nathan’s Hot Dogs and the usual movie snacks.

ABOUT THE FILMS

“Warrior Champions” is an emotional and inspiring story about a group of severely wounded American veterans who fight to turn their personal goals into Olympic dreams. After seeing the film, a Congressional panel approved $10 million to help other wounded warriors from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars achieve their athletic goals.

“Good Night Irene” tells the story of two solitary men who – driven by friendship, a desire for freedom and a wish to taste live to the fullest – embark on a journey to find a very special woman.

“Trust Us, This is All Made Up” is a story of Second City comedy veterans T.J. Jagodowksi and David Pasquesi. It explores the unique partnership and transcendental forces that govern their legendary performances.

“These films all have such unique qualities that perfectly fit into a celebration of the arts,” Jay Morong, the film festival’s program director, said in the press release.

The Charlotte Film Festival is a partner of Indie Film Force, a non-profit organization with a demonstrated interest in featuring and debuting groundbreaking independent films. More than 200 films have been submitted to the Fifth Annual Charlotte Film Festival Sept. 20- 26. Last year’s festival drew more than 2,000 visitors and nearly 100 filmmakers, cast and crew.
