Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius has announced the musical lineup for its spring and summer Cornelius Concert Series. Mick & The Ultras (rock and blues) will pay May 16, Testify (musical drama) is scheduled June 12, and the St. James Male Chorus performs July 11.
All concerts are free, at Mt. Zion, 19600 Zion Street. A free will offering will be taken at each event. Here are the details:
SUNDAY, MAY 16, 1 p.m., Front lawn – Mick and the Ultras. Held in conjunction with the Mt. Zion Mission Fair, which celebrates Mt. Zion missions both near and far. Mick and the Ultras plays classic rock and blues. Lee Maiorano and Pat Cashion, both Mt. Zion members, have played with this group since 2007. Bring a blanket and picnic and enjoy the fellowship and music.
SATURDAY, JUNE 12, 7 p.m., Mount Zion Sanctuary – Testify. This is a 140-member traveling non-denominational group of teenagers whose purpose is to spread the Word of God through choreographed musical drama. Testify’s members represent approximately 35 churches in the Mooresville area.
SUNDAY, JULY 11, 6 p.m., Mt. Zion sanctuary – St. James Male Chorus. The chorus was established at and is named for St. James United Methodist Church in Charlotte. It was founded by the late James Postell in 1955. For 54 years this chorus, with more than 40 male voices from nine denominations and 27 churches, has spread the Gospel through song.
