Organist Timothy J. Belk performs Tuesday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the 4th Annual all-Bach program, celebrating Johann Sebastian Bach’s birth week, as part of the Organ at Davidson series at Davidson College Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Belk, who is director of music ministries at Gastonia’s First Presbyterian Church, has kicked up the already hard-to-top Bach Birthday Bash by bringing with him a trumpeter and a quartet to complement the organ in offering Bach chorales.
Mr. Belk — whose concert tours have spanned the European continent, England, Bermuda and the eastern United States—will play on the revoiced pipes of DCPC’s Wicks organ, an instrument noted for its clarity and singing tone.
Bach is the hero of organists and organ music lovers worldwide. The free event is open to the public and followed by a meet-the-artists reception. Donations are encouraged for the expansion of the Organ at Davidson series. On April 20 the performing artist will be Andris Rozulkans of Hickory.
