The Green Ball features contra dancing, an auction and more.
How about some mid-winter fun for a cause?
The Environmental Action Coalition of Davidson College on Friday, Feb. 12, will host the 6th Annual Green Ball, a contra dance and fund-raiser for Davidson Lands Conservancy. It’s open to the public and includes lessons, dancing, and an auction.
The ball runs from 7:30 to 11 p.m. in the Lilly Family Gallery of the Chambers Building, on the Davidson College campus.
A contra dance is a social dance featuring live music and rotating dance lines, with many of the steps borrowed from square dancing and line dancing. It is fast-paced, fun, and easy to learn.
The evening includes a brief lesson for beginners, a chance auction, and music by Asheville-based band Appalachian Storm. The auction includes works by local artists, movie tickets, restaurant gift cards and more.
All proceeds will benefit the Davidson Lands Conservancy, a local non-profit land trust that works to protect natural, open space in the Town of Davidson.
Tickets cost $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Please contact Alicia Frank by email (alfrank@davidson.edu) or phone (704-999-2465) for more information.
