Our Town Cinemas, the new movie theater in Sadler Square shopping center, continues to add items to its menu and titles to its marquee.
The theater said Wednesday its application for a beer and wine license has been approved, though it may be a couple of weeks before the bar is open. Meanwhile, the theater has unveiled two new titles, which will arrive Friday: “Leap Year,” and “Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.” (See showtimes on the right side of our Guide page and descriptions below.)
Spokesoman Jan Black said the new theater will introduce wine and beer in the “next week or two.” The only holdup at this point is when the staff can complete Alcoholic Beverages Commission training.
Meanwhile, here are descriptions of the new titles opening this weekend at the theater:
“LEAP YEAR” – A woman who has an elaborate scheme to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day, an Irish tradition which occurs every time the date Feb. 29 rolls around, faces a major setback when bad weather threatens to derail her planned trip to Dublin. Opens Jan. 8.
“ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKQUEL” – The world famous singing pre-teen chipmunk trio return to contend with the pressures of school, celebrity, and a rival female music group known as The Chipettes. Opens Friday, Jan. 8.
