For the past three years, the James Family of Mooresville has hosted an automated holiday music-and-light show at their home on Springtime Lane, off Shearer Road. But this may be the last for the popular attraction because of vandalism and unruly behavior outside the home.
In a note on their website, www.jamesfamilychristmas.com, Wayne James says they won’t continue the display next year.
This is the last season I will do this. I simply just cannot put up with all of the disrespect that has happened this year. It is truly sad that I work on this all year for the community only to get repaid with vandalism, loud radios, littering, turning around in my neighbors driveways, snowballs being thrown at the display, even someone urinating on the road. I simply cannot police this 7 days a week 4 hours a night. I shouldn’t have to for that matter, especially when it is FREE!! I fund this 100% by myself, and takes over 6 weeks to assemble, it is just too much for me, just to put up with this kind of behaviour. For those of you that truly appreciate James Family Christmas, I’m sorry.”
This year’s display continues nightly from 6-10 through Thursday, Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve. More information at www.jamesfamilychristmas.com.
