The Charlotte Symphony’s Oratorio Singers of Charlotte will conduct mid-season auditions for new members on Tuesday, Jan. 5, and Tuesday, Jan. 12, in Charlotte. The symphony’s official chorus is seeking new voices, especially male voices and altos.
A limited number of audition times available, according to an announcement from the symphony. Auditions consist of a prepared piece of your choice (such as a hymn, art song or aria), a range evaluation, and a short sight-singing test. Candidates may be asked to read a brief German text as well, to gauge language facility.
Repertoire highlights for the remainder of the 2009-2010 Season include Borodin’s “Polovtsian Dances” with the orchestra’s music director designate, Christopher Warren-Green; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9; and a spring concert featuring the Rachmaninoff Vespers.
