Cain siblings return to give a free concert Sunday

Bassoonist Rebecca Cain and her brother, clarinetist Peter Cain, are back home for the holidays and will give a free concert Sunday, Dec. 27, at 4 p.m., at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, accompanied by their mother, Jane Cain, the church’s music director.
Rebeccas Cain is a bassoonist with the Tucson Symphony since 2000 as well as the symphony’s personnel manager. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory with a master’s degree from Arizona State, she also teaches kindergarten music through Opening Minds Through the Arts, a program involving every school child in learning music from writing operas to playing instruments.
Peter Cain received his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt, his master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and is currently a doctoral student in clarinet at the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

Jane Dimmock Cain, a noted organist who performs nationally and internationally, and husband Larry Cain, professor of physics at Davidson College, welcome their children home for the holidays, happy they will share the following program with old and new friends:
- Five Bagatelles for clarinet and piano by Gerald Finzi
- Duos for clarinet and bassoon by Beethoven
- Suite Cantando for clarinet, bassoon and piano by Bill Douglas, a showcase of various rhythmic styles including samba, bebop, ballad and improvisatory jazz
- Bassango, a tango for bassoon and piano
