Davidson Community Players will lift the curtain on the romantic comedy “Almost, Maine” on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8 pm in the Armour Street Theatre. Also coming up this month: Davidson College’s production of Moliere’s comedy “Tartuffe.” And in November, Davidson resident Louise Robertson makes her local directing debut with a production of “‘night Mother” at Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.
‘ALMOST, MAINE’
“Almost, Maine” is directed by Melissa Ohlman-Roberge. Opening night is Thursday and the show runs 12 performances through Oct. 25.
Audiences will embark on a hopeful, heartbreaking, and hilarious journey through the mythical town of “Almost, Maine,” meeting nine couples along the way, each with their own little love story to share.
Taking place on a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in Almost. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.
Performances Oct. 8, 10, 15-18, and 22-24 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m. at the Armour Street Theatre, Armour and Watson streets, Davidson. Tickets are $15-$17. For reservations, call 704-892-7918 or go online to www.carolinatix.org.
