This week’s calendar of events in and around Davidson includes a variety of
summer events for kids at Davidson public library branch on the Village Green. On Saturday morning, there’s a “Think Pink” dog show fund-raiser for breast cancer research organized by 10-year-old Ally Miller. Then Saturday night, take in a free recital by Annie Rhodes and Jenny Giduz, two of the area’s most promising young sopranos, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church Lingle Chapel. There’s also a bloodmobile at St. Alban’s Epsicopal Church on Saturday morning, and on Sunday, a “Tastes for Habitat” fund-raiser by Our Towns Habitat Women Build. TUESDAY, JULY 28, dusk, Ben & Jerry’s, 202 S. Main St. – Free outdoor movie on the wall, “Paul Blart: Mall Cop.” Come early for trivia and games. Movie begins at dusk.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 29 , 6:30-9 p.m., Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, 202 S. Main St. – Rock Band Wednesday. Up to four can play the popular video game free, trying their hands at performing on computer “instruments.” Details: 704-892-0604.

THURSDAY, JULY 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7-9 p.m. – Public planning workshop for Mooney’s Corner, a proposed multistory mixed-use building at 212 S. Main St., downtown, next to Town Hall. A dog show for area people pets with costume contests, pet care education, games and more. All dogs and owners are asked to wear pink. Registration is $10, and proceeds go to the Susan G. DAVIDSON DASH SHUTTLE BUS – Mondays, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Town of Davidson has begun service on a weekly shuttle bus called Davidson Dash. The bus will visit downtown, South Main Street, Sadler Square and the Harris Teeter shopping center near Exit 30. Cost: $1 per roundtrip.
