At Davidson Community Players summer drama camp recently, these girls acted out an original scene. The camp has added a session for 4-5 year olds next week
Davidson Community Players have added another session of summer camp for ages 4 and 5 during the week of July 27 to 31. Sessions are 7 a.m. to noon. Meanwhile, many other summer camps in and around Davidson are still recruiting campers for their 2009 camps. Among those with openings are two taking place at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church: Davidson Choir Camp, July 27-31, and Davidson Art Camp, the weeks of Aug. 3 and 10. Details in our Summer Camp guide.
Davidson Choir Camp is described as “an intense, week-long musical experience” for children in second to ninth grades. It teaches music literacy skills, and also educates the whole singer through sight-singing, choral skills, and exposure to different musical styles, ranging from the Anglican repertoire to Gospel and African music.
The session concludes with a performance by all participants on Friday, July 31 at 7 p.m.
Davidson Art Camp, run by Jennifer Faulkenberry and Kristin Skidmore-Ratnofsky, wll focus on “Fashion Design” the week of Aug. 3, and “World Travel” Aug. 10-14. A few spaces remain in the camps, they report. Details: 704-895-6730.
