Davidson Community Players’ Connie Company will present a show for children titled “The Connie Company Dives In!” Friday to Sunday, July 17-19 at three locations around the Lake Norman area.
The Connie Company is known for its kid-friendly, fast-paced and funny children’s theatre performances, and this summer’s celebration under the deep blue seas promises to be no exception. With poems, stories, legends and lore, this production is the culmination of the annual Rupert T. Barber Summer Workshop Series.
The touring production will be performed:
- Friday, July 17 at 7 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Avenue, Cornelius, in partnership with Cornelius PARC.
- Saturday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Sherrills Ford Library, 8456 Sherrills Ford Road in partnership with Friends of the Sherrills Ford Library
- Sunday, July 19 at 4 p.m. at Davidson Community Player’s Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour St., Davidson. Admission is $3 for adults and children. Proceeds benefit Davidson Community Players’ Connie Company Youth Programming.
Friday and Saturday’s performances are free. Friday’s performance will benefit the The Lake Norman Children’s Relief Suitcase Project. In lieu of purchasing a ticket, audience members are asked to bring basic school, health and beauty or first aide supplies. Each year Children’s Relief brings Afghan children to the United States to stay with volunteer host families over a six week period during the summer month. During this time, the visiting children receive basic medical, dental and optical evaluations and as much follow-up care as time allows. Community School of Davidson is assisting these children by sending suitcases full of medical, dental and school supplies back to their orphanages/villages.
