Do you enjoy supporting your local community? Looking for something to do this weekend? The Lake Norman YMCA still has volunteer opportunities for our annual Live at the Lake event this weekend, especially for the following areas:
- 5K Family Fun Run and Walk (8:00 – 10:00 AM)
- Live at the Lake Luau (Two hour shifts between 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
All event sponsorship and vendor proceeds will benefit the Lake Norman YMCA Community Outreach campaign.
In 2009, the branch’s goal is to raise $215,000 in order to provide more children, individuals and families the opportunity to participate in day camp, afterschool, preschool, swim lessons and active older adult programs. The branch’s signature outreach programs include the Starfish Academy, which helps 72 1st and 2nd graders improve their reading and literacy skills each year, and the Adaptive Water Ski program, which helps children overcome physical disabilities by learning to ski.
